NikeQiang Diao Is Earned
MPC, Riff Raff and Wieden +Kennedy Shanghai go in search of “Qiang Diao” in latest collaboration with Nike
Directed by Riff Raff’s Finn Keenan, the two-minute film follows a plucky and unlikely hero who is tasked with acquiring ‘Qiang Diao’ – Chinese for confidence, swagger and game – for his wealthy owner. Hilarious scenarios follow as he proves that ‘Qiang Diao’ is a state of mind and cannot be bought, only earned.
The VFX, led by MPC Creative Director and VFX Supervisor Barry Greaves, included combining plates from multiple cameras to create seamless transitions as the camera follows the hero through endless scenarios. We worked closely with director Finn Keenan from the very beginning, providing tests, planning for complex transitions and ensuring the correct plates and necessary elements were shot to allow a smooth visual effects process.
The color grade was completed by Nikola Stefanovic, our Shanghai studio’s Head of Color.
