COLOURIST MATTHIEU TOULLET GRADES ‘THE BIRDMAN’ SHORT FILM FROM VOLVO WITH GREY LONDON

Volvo has unveiled a short film that celebrates the work of Professor Carl Jones MBE – a leading conservation biologist.

Beginning with the professor’s life as a young man, the film follows Jones’ efforts in saving five bird species, three reptile species, a fruit bat and several plants from extinction, leading him to win the Indianapolis Prize (regarded as “the Nobel Prize for conservation”) in 2016.

Directed by D.A.R.Y.L with colour by MPC’s Matthieu Toullet, the eight-minute epic is the seventh instalment of Volvo’s ‘Defiant pioneer’ series, which champions the efforts of people hoping to improve the world around them.

Matthieu Toullet says:

“We worked very closely with the duo D.A.R.Y.L and DP Ben Fordesman without forgetting ECD, Andy Lockley, to find the right aesthetic look for the film. We really wanted to achieve a look that fits perfectly with the storytelling.”
